Give students the opportunity to reflect on their transaction history with these guiding questions. Choose a time frame for students to review, for example this week or this month.

Bank Statement Reflection Activity

Directions: Sign in to your ClassEquity account, and click on My Activity. Use your transaction history to help answer the following questions. If you have any pending transactions, make sure to complete those first!

Income

  • Fixed income: How much money did you earn from your classroom job? _________

  • Variable income: How much money did you earn from bonuses? _________

  • What was your total income? _________

    Hint: Total income = Fixed income + Variable income

Expenses

  • Fixed expenses: How much money did you pay for bills? _________

  • Variable expenses: How much money did you pay in fines? _________

  • Variable expenses: How much money did you spend in the store? _________

  • What were your total expenses? _________

    Hint: Total expenses = Fixed expenses + Variable expenses

Net income

  • What is your net income? ________

  • Hint: Net income = total income - total expenses

Reflection questions

  • When you look at your transaction history, what stands out to you?

  • Do you think your bank statement accurately reflects your behavior and contribution to your class? Why or why not?

  • What is one goal you have moving forward? What challenges might you face when working toward this goal and how will you overcome them?
